Legend has it that Captiva was named by the pirate Jose Gaspar who used it to hide his kidnapped victims while waiting for their ransom - hence the name "Captiva". Reknown for it's natural beauty, wildlife, and pristine beaches, Captiva attracts quite a bit of attention from visitors.
